Artist / Austin Stern
Austin Stern (b.1989) was born in Seattle and started blowing glass at the age of 14. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Glass from Emporia State University in Kansas. And he is currently a resident artist and lecturer in the United States, Thailand, and Sweden. Austin's artistic inspiration is rooted in his childhood memories of bright, saturated colours found in toys and cartoons, as well as patterns in the natural and fashion worlds. His resulting works are characterised by extremely whimsical and unique shapes, full of imaginative flights of fancy. Through his use of vibrant "mischievous creatures," Austin joyfully explores interpersonal relationships and embodies ways to cope with various anxieties and fears. His unique perspective allows him to express a childlike sense of playful humour, adding a touch of lightheartedness to his creations.
