Joyce Man (b. 1991) was born in Hong Kong, graduated from Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2015. In 2019, she participated in NES Artist Residency Programme in Iceland and currently works as a visual art lecturer at HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. Man's artistic prowess lies in her ability to use various media to create surprising and attractive scenes of ordinary places. Her works are often displayed in serene and peaceful settings, providing a dramatic contrast to the fast-paced daily life in Hong Kong. She captures the beauty in overlooked objects such as bottles, packaging bags, and even discarded items. Through constant piecing together and replication of these seemingly ordinary materials, Man shares the fragmented, intimate, and everyday collective memories of this city.
