Artist / Lewis Lau

Lewis Lau (b. 1988, Hong Kong)
Lewis Lau is a painter currently based in London. He holds a BA (2010) and MFA (2012) in Fine Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Wandering through cities—both familiar and foreign—Lewis is drawn to moments that pass quietly, almost unnoticed. His oil paintings reflect an ongoing exploration of the emotional undercurrents of urban life: the delicate tension between solitude and connection, memory and movement. Using symbolic imagery drawn from architecture, cinema, and everyday scenes, he translates personal experience into layered visual narratives.
Though the themes in Lewis’s work remain rooted in the urban landscape, his style evolves with time—shaped by shifting perspectives, lived encounters, and emotional resonance. His practice is both introspective and observational, capturing what is felt rather than merely seen.
Lewis’s work has been exhibited at leading galleries and art fairs in Hong Kong, including Touch Gallery, Gallery EXIT, Osage Gallery, and Art Basel Hong Kong. His paintings are held in private and institutional collections across Asia.
